What makes a great trailer?

Well, great trailers follow a tried and tested formula known as the “top formula”.

This is a very simple 3-step process that can help you to increase the number of random viewers that convert into subscribers.

Here’s what do you need to do.

1. T is for target audience.

You want to address your target audience as fast as possible – within the first 10 seconds or so.

People need to know that they are in the right place and that your channel is right for them. Who are your audience and what do you have to offer them?

2. O is for origin story.

Once you have directly addressed your target audience, the next thing you need to on your trailer video is do is to tell your story.

Your origin story is a powerful marketing tool that can help you to stand out among the thousands of other YouTubers in your niche.

Why did you start your channel? What are you trying to achieve? Giving some background information makes you more relatable, and the more relatable you are, the more likely people will be to subscribe to your channel.

3. P stands for pitch.

The last thing you’re going to want to do it should make your pitch to your audience. why should they subscribe? What’s in it for them?

In this final section of your trailer video, you should try and make the benefits of your YouTube channel clear.

You should finish off with a strong call to action, such as asking viewers to subscribe directly. Don’t shy away from asking people to subscribe, as this has been proven to Increase subscriber numbers.

Reply to as many comments as possible.

If you want to increase your fanbase, you need to talk to your audience. This is particularly important within the first 24 hours after you publish a new video.

When you reply to your audience, it tells potential subscribers that you are an engaged and active member of your community. Which makes them far more likely to want to join it.

Replying to lots of comments and fully engaging with your viewers also sends out positive signals to YouTube that can get you boosted in the feeds.
