Choose an existing playlist or create one for your own recordings, downloaded purchases or other personal audio. You can place local tracks alongside songs from Spotify\u2019s catalog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A playlist entry and an audio file are different things. Adding a song to a playlist does not upload its audio to Spotify\u2019s servers or turn that playlist into a backup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, you might build a playlist on your laptop, then open it on your phone and find a local song unavailable. The playlist can be present while the required file is still only on the laptop. A problem with one recording does not necessarily mean Local Files is broken. Back up your personal audio first, and remember that music and podcasts downloaded inside Spotify will need to be downloaded again afterward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Want Other People to Stream Your Music?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Local Files is for playing audio you already have. It is not a way to publish a single, create a public artist release or let strangers stream a private recording from your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a public release, work with a music distributor. Prepare the final audio, cover art, song titles and artist credits, then follow the distributor\u2019s submission requirements. Check that you have the rights needed to release the recording and any material used in it before submitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Compare charges, royalty handling and correction policies before choosing a distributor.
