NONE on Instagram is a placeholder label that appears wherever a field is empty or no option is selected. You’ll see it in Insights when no audience data is available, on Story polls when no answer is picked, and on profile fields like “Pronouns” or “Gender” when nothing has been entered.

It’s not a feature you can turn on or off. It’s just Instagram’s way of saying “this slot is empty.” If a chart in Insights reads NONE, it usually means the post is too new or the audience is too small for the metric to render.

INQUIRE is a call-to-action button on Instagram Shop and creator profiles that lets a viewer message the seller about a product or service. It opens a DM thread pre-tagged with the listing, so the seller knows exactly what the question is about. It replaces the generic “Contact” button on accounts using the Inquire CTA.

You’ll see it most often on small business accounts, custom-order shops (jewelry, art, baked goods), and service providers who don’t list public prices.

“Seen” is the read receipt that appears under a direct message once the recipient has opened the conversation. It shows the sender that the message has been read, even if no reply is sent. Read receipts cannot be turned off in regular DMs, only in Vanish Mode.

Getting “seen” with no reply is one of the most-searched social anxieties on Instagram. It only confirms the message was opened, not ignored on purpose.

“Excited” appears on Instagram Stories as one of the preset reaction stickers and as a label on the Add Yours and Reaction sliders. Tapping it sends a one-tap reaction to the Story poster. On the creator side, it shows up in the viewer list as a sentiment label next to a follower’s name.
